Chinese songs title Problem in Iphone and iTunes
When I import my Chinese mp3 into iTune, the mp3 tag of some songs are displayed as funny characters. My friends who has an iP hone and copy mp3 from me also has the same problem. When the music is synced to iPod/iPhone, the Chinese titles can not be displayed correctly. It seems they simply rename the mp3 tag manually or tolerate the occasion corrupted song name, so it is my job to load it up with mp3. The iPod song list in iPhone suffers the same problem.
The cause of the problem is that the mp3 use big5 or GB code in the mp3 tag, which is incompatible with the Unicode used in iTune and iPhone. The solution is pretty straight forward, all I need to do is to translate the characters inside the mp3 tag to Unicode. I have to pre-process the mp3 files before I import them to iTune. The current known solution is to convert the MP3 file’s ID Tag from GB/Big5 to Unicode before sync to teh device.
Display Chinese Songs Title in Iphone
On Windows, NJStar Communicator can help you view the GB/Big5 Chinese Music/Song Titles in iTune or Explorer.
With the release of NJStar Communicator v2.75, it is very easy to correct the DBCS song titles directly in iTune.
- Change NJStar communicator viewer code settings (eg GB, Big5) so the unreadable title can be viewed correctly in iTune;
- Click the title and let it go into editing mode, highlight all the text, do a copy (Ctrl C) and then Paste (Ctrl V);
- Click somewhere else to end the editing – That’s it, the DBCS title has been converted to Unicode;
- Now sync with your iPod or iPhone, the Chinese song titles should be displayed correctly.
The 4 steps process is a bit inconvenient, but better than no knowing what song is playing. This is because that Apple‘s iPod or iPhone requires the MP3 ID Tags to be encoded in Unicode. Now you can display Chinese Songs Title in Iphone
