And you do not want your children to see your secret file, or you want to hide secret file from others like your boss, and maybe co-worker?
A very simple and easy way to hide a secret file or folder, don’t create the folder in some obvious place such as My Documents, instead put it in a location that someone would typically not look into. For example, create a new folder under C:\Program Files. Put the secret file into this folder. Creating a folder there doesn’t hurt anything at all and not many people go browsing through their anyway since it’s mostly just system installation files. Then we can make it hidden. But this method is quite flimsy.
Other quick little tip for those people who want to hide a particular secret file :
1. Gather the secret file you want to hide in one folder and compress the folder, whether you are using. Zip or. Rar
2. Take a file in any format,
It may be an image file [. Jpg,. Png,. Gif,. Bmp etc.],
text file or files that are not suspicious, like your photo, or document [. doc] except music files.
3. Collect both files in one directory, in this case I use the files: myphoto.jpg, secretdata.zip,
and I put it on drive C
4. Open a command prompt, type the following:
C: \> copy / b myfoto.jpg secretdata.zip myresult.jpg
and then it will appears:
myphoto.jpg
secretdata.zip
1 file (s) copied
5. Result of the merger is myresult.jpg
You will not find a difference between myphoto.jpg with myresult.jpg
except only the file size is greater,
Because the secret files you have entered into the file myresult.jpg.
To unlock this secret file you just right click the file myresult.jpg,
open with winrar or winzip and you will be able to see the file
Note-The file format should be the same as the result of merging the files that used to hide the secret files.
Another way to keep your secret file safe, follow these steps :
1. Right click on the folder (that included secret file) you want to hide.
2. go on to “Rename” option on the list.
3. Now press this combination:
Alt+2,5,5
Note–The 2,5,5 numbers are to be used from the number pad on the right side of the keyboard and not from the horizontal pad provided just below the F1,F2,F3…keys.
This will erase out the name of the folder.
4. To hide the picture of the folder. right click again and this time….select properties on the menu.
5. After the dialog appears, click on the “customize” tab {the last tab at the top}, and click on “change icon” at the bottom of the dialog box, which is written at the left of a folder picture.
6. After the appearance of the “change icon” dialog box….click on any area within the dialog box, which seems “blank” and press ok.
7. Come back to the dialog box { to the 1st from where you started } and then select apply and then ok.
8. Happy playing hide-and-seek wid your folders
9. To unhide, refresh the screen.
10. You may see the hidden folder blinkin’ everytime the screen is refreshed.
11. go to the place where u see the folder blinkin’ and press right mouse button.
12. Again select “rename” and rename the folder.
13. Again go to properties and repeat step 4 to 6 bu…instead of selecting a blank space, select ne other pic. and press ok..:)
The most simple way to hide your secret file :
free download ’My Lockbox™ ’, this freeware enables you to hide, lock and password protect almost any folder (included secret file) on your computer. The program is extremely easy to protect your secret file. You can set the lockbox location and the password during the setup procedure. After the setup is done, lockbox will be hidden and locked until you enter the valid password. When locked, your folder including secret file is invisible. This freeware supports all modern Windows operating systems (XP, Vista, 7) including 64-bit editions.
Hint:
Don’t just copy and paste the secret files, or your original secret file will stay behind.
I save all my passwords in a password protected word document with a password that I would have to have dementia to forget.
