It is not even clear how H1Siri port works, but according to initial reports it is looks like many disadvantages than advantages once H1Siri installed on your iPhone. H1Siri claims to be the first to enable Siri’s full suite of features on the iPhone 4. In October, reported that hacker Steven Troughton-Smith was able to get his Siri hack to communicate with Apple’s servers, but he wouldn’t release it to the public because it required distributing Apple’s copyrighted files.

H1Siri’s developers, the Chinese hacking group CD-Dev Team, don’t seem as concerned about those pesky legal issues. A new jailbreak app called H1Siri has just been released on Cydia, which claims to bring benefits of Siri to iPhone 4 running on iOS 5 or iOS 5.0.1. The Siri assistant should be only available on the iPhone 4S. The H1Siri app, available on a custom repository for the Cydia jailbreak app (which is used to find and download jailbroken software), uses Apple-owned files to trick Siri into working on the iPhone 4. It looks like the hackers have got this working on an iPhone 4 by pirating some of the iPhone 4S system files, which is illegal.

The hack also requires you to send your Siri commands through CD-Dev Team’s proxy servers, which gives the shady group direct access to your contacts, calendar, e-mail, location, and more personal data. The Siri port makes use of a proxy server, which is handles the requests rather than Apple‘s servers. It is also noted that using H1Siri with your emails, SMS, Calendar, Contacts, Location etc might send them to CD-Dev Team’s servers. It’s illegal, it could put your data in danger. It is the big Disadvantage.

Reports from multiple early adopters show that H1Siri can cause a variety of problems on your iPhone — including settings malfunctioning, difficulty booting, and even completely killing the phone. Early adopters reported having issues with the installation, but download errors are the least of your concerns.

We’re also hearing reports that it is causing other issues such as messing up the Settings app. If your iPhone does survive the installation, you can look forward to other issues like settings malfunctioning and problems turning on. When you open the Settings app, it goes to Siri section and it is not possible to go to any other section in the Settings app and you may be forced to ultimately restore your iPhone 4.
So we would strongly recommend you to avoid installing H1Siri on your iPhone 4. If you really must have Siri on your non-iPhone 4S iPhone, use the app at your own risk.
I can see why so many desperate consumers are eager to get benefits of their Siri on, but the benefit of this hack doesn’t seem like it’s worth all of the headache. There are more disadvantages than advantages of H1 siri port for your iPhone.
